ESG STRATEGIES FOR SPORTS ORGANISATIONS AND CLUBS

Ensuring the future viability of professional sport through professional ESG management.

PROFESSIONAL SPORT IS FEELING THE PRESSURE FROM ITS STAKEHOLDERS TO INTEGRATE ESG CRITERIA (KEYWORD: REPORTING OBLIGATION FOR LARGER COMPANIES) AND CAN DRAW ENORMOUS POTENTIAL FROM THIS.

ESG is one of the most important topics in the economy and is also becoming increasingly relevant in the sports business. Regulations and ordinances of the EU Parliament on the one hand, increased demands for a fairer and more diverse sport and pressure from umbrella organizations such as UEFA and FIFA in football on the other hand are approaching leagues and clubs at a rapid pace.Sports organizations, leagues and clubs have enormous potential that only needs to be tapped if sustainability is practiced in a credible and authentic manner.
ESG4sport would like to accompany you on your way!

THE FUTURE VIABILITY OF PROFESSIONAL SPORT IS HARDLY CONCEIVABLE WITHOUT SERIOUS WORK ON SUSTAINABILITY.

In recent years, the topic of sustainability has been taken up by more and more associations, but with little ambition, never structured and without an identifiable strategy. We are still at the beginning of this development. The mandatory sustainability reporting (CSRD - Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) will put an end to this uncoordinated approach and is expected to affect 20 football clubs from the top four leagues in Germany, two to three in Austria, and significantly more by 2025.
Even if the league and the clubs are not all directly affected by the reporting, they will probably have to report on their impacts due to pressure from investors, sponsors, banks and public authorities.

EXPLOITING MAJOR OPPORTUNITIES AND POTENTIAL WITH A MANAGED ESG STRATEGY

An ESG strategy tailored to the sports organisation or club, with measurable and comprehensible KPIs, managed in a credible and transparent manner, along the value chain and the greatest associated impacts, and taking into account all stakeholders, will be the future benchmark for the future viability of the organisation.
Corporate responsibility is well on its way to becoming the most important issue in the sports industry. Consistent and authentic action enables the transformation to sustainable action and thus ensures the future viability of sport and increases acceptance among fans.
New opportunities in the search for strategic partners, investors and sponsors on the basis of new, value-oriented criteria will be the result.
Despite current challenges, the pressure from stakeholders and the social relevance of the topic, the sustainability strategy will in future become a social and regulatory right to exist, a "social licence to operate" for sports organisations, leagues and clubs.
Use your chances and potentials - ESG4sports supports you!

Knowledge Transfer

ESG4sports informs decision-makers in sports organisations. We see the transfer of knowledge on sustainability issues as an important and indispensable introduction to the topic of sustainability. We see ourselves as ‘translators’ of the complex regulations and rules and can therefore also draw conclusions about the impact of these requirements on sports organisations and sports clubs.

Get in touch

ESG4sports works with teams from sports organisations and clubs to develop ESG strategies that enable them to meet the current and future requirements of the new regulators and directives. We either build on existing systems or develop new systems in line with the jointly developed ESG strategy.
